Work and Study

Almost 70% of all students work alongside their studies. Some even full time.   For example, in order not to lose financial aid, a student’s earnings must not exceed a specified amount (2014: € 8000). Above an annual income of € 12,000 (2014) tax liability begins.

Anyone who works with a service or a work contract is responsible all tax payments (income tax, sales tax).  An overview of the various forms of employment contracts are available online on the Austrian National Union of Students’ site http://www.oeh.ac.at/#/en/home/. For students from third countries it applies that: Bachelor students may not exceed ten hours per week, Master's students may earn a maximum of 20 hours per week. Student jobs may be found on www.unijobs.at or http://www.studentjobs.at/.

You will find further job opportunities at www.studentjob.at.
